# SSH into a Ubiquiti EdgeMax router using a Mac

**Step 1**  
Open up terminal by clicking on the magnifying glass (top right) and typing terminal.

**Step 2**  
Assuming the default username and password hasn't been changed, enter the command `ssh ubnt@192.168.1.1`

If it has been changed, please follow these steps to factory reset the Ubiquiti EdgeMax router.

**Step 3**  
When prompted for the password, enter `ubnt`.

**Step 4**  
You will then be presented with a CLI prompt for the EdgeMax Router.
